Aston Villa arrive in bad shape: they were taken apart 4-0 at Brighton on 23 August and are in the bottom five of the early table with zero points, no goals scored and a -4 goal difference, with only two clubs in the division sitting on a worse one. Arsenal, by contrast, have won four of their last five outings and kept three clean sheets in that run, including a 3-0 win over Coventry on 21 August and back-to-back 1-0 results against Burnley and away at West Ham in May. The Gunners also travel well: they won 2-1 at Crystal Palace in late May and scored four away at Paris Saint-Germain in a 5-4 defeat, so their away goal supply is real.
